What Happens When Human Dignity Becomes the Battlefield
In other to have a comprehensive overview of how terribly human dignity has been impacted, we must recognize that the greatest threat to human dignity today is not always a visible weapon as we know, but sometimes, a psychological warfare that involves calculated use of rejection, manipulation, exhaustion, confusion, false narratives, deprivation and constant criticism to make another person question their worth.
Before I get to this point of openly speaking about this, I have witnessed, experienced and documented what ordinary people endure when those closest to them deliberately aid to keep them in a sphere, full of struggles to prove that they deserve to belong, be heard or succeed beyond a permitted limit.
In healthy environments, You'll agree with me that talent is discovered, nurtured and promoted, but in toxic environments, talent can rather be perceived as a threat especially to those who are not even willing to take an inch of the uncomfortable steps you decided to take in other to build something mostly from the dark where no one was neither watching nor applauding but compelled by the one who planted it in your heart.
You'll find out that in certain circumstances, you may sacrifice quietly, pay the highest price, and still be portrayed as the problem that everyone wishes to solve. Stories may be created about you and people will believe it while refusing to consult or hear your side. Your strength may be labelled arrogance; your boundaries, rebellion; and your silence, guilt. And if You decide to legitimately question some or all of these anomalies, you'll be surprised that it may only but trigger outrage without any preparation for accountability by anyone.
That is how psychological oppression works: it does not always destroy you in one moment. It can gradually erode your confidence, blurr your vision and clarity, sapp your energy, destroy your relationships and sense of value until you begin to doubt the person you were created to become. And often time the society is too busy to notice how humans who deserve nothing but pure love, live in perpetually anguish, not by divine design but by man's inhumanity to man because the focus is always on those who carry notable weapons while the real damages are happening in our homes, places of work, places of worship, market places etc.
This is why the Green Pastures Mission World Wide Inc. carries a simple but profound mandate: “...Restoring Dignity to Humanity.”
We are primarily called to believe that every human being deserves dignity, safety, fairness, opportunity and the freedom to develop their God-given potential without being deliberately diminished by others.
I survived some of what I have encountered because I believe God sent me to pursue solutions, not revenge. This is evident in the truth that what was intended to break me perpetually became part of the preparation for my assignment. As {Romans 8:28} reminds us, God can work all things together for our good according to His purpose.
So I choose love over bitterness, discernment over suspicion, truth over propaganda, and restoration over retaliation., I think you should too, and this is why I believe that human dignity is not a privilege reserved for the powerful, but a right that belongs to every human being alive.
Therefore, let us build families, institutions, communities, governments and societies where people are not psychologically destroyed for being different, gifted, vulnerable or ambitious. And if you are reading this and have ever been or going through any of this at the moment, please don't keep it to yourself any more, talk to the authorities. My charge to you is this: Before you believe a story about someone, hear their side. Before you silence someone, understand their pain. Before you use your influence to diminish another person, remember that your power is temporary—but the damage you cause may last a lifetime. And ultimately, remember that you have a blood line, who stand a chance to get rewarded by how you treated others when you're long gone, so ensure your engagements with fellow humans are pure before God who weights all actions and who knows the intents of the heart.
Let us therefore become deliberate restorers of dignity instead of destroyers of it.
