What if I tell you you that there is enough in the world for humanity to flourish, but the real question is whether leadership will unlock opportunity or continue to preserve unnecessary barriers?
Considering the timeless and remarkable invitation in Isaiah {55:1–3}: The scriptures say "Come... buy and eat without money and without price." This when viewed from a balanced point, paints a picture of abundance, access, dignity, and hope, not a society trapped by artificial scarcity.
Again, {Romans 8:35, 37–39} reminds us that no hardship or earthly power can separate humanity from the love and purpose of God.
Yet, across many nations, millions of capable people remain locked out of opportunity, not because they lack intelligence, talent, or determination, but because systems, policies, and institutions often fail to create fair pathways for them to thrive.
To this end, leadership at every level including government, industry, finance, education, and the private sector must move beyond managing poverty to creating prosperity. This is because true leadership removes unnecessary barriers, expands economic participation, encourages innovation, creates jobs, supports entrepreneurship, promotes affordable housing, strengthens food security, improves access to healthcare and education, and ensures that every hardworking citizen has a fair opportunity to build a meaningful life and future.
For financial institutions, I have this for you: You see, the mission goes beyond opening accounts, and please permit me to say, that while we encourage the innovation, expansion and accessibility to the financial ecosystem that the Fintechs provide, the commercial banks should not forget that they hold the heart beat of the banking and finance industry. As such, I want to urge them to ensure that every Nigerian, including children hold at least one valid bank account as the law permits. Let me also say that we should not stop at opening bank accounts, but should go a step further to ensure that Financial inclusion is accompanied by financial literacy especially to the the mothers in the open market who know little or nothing about how money actually works in the 21 century. Responsible access to banking services, digital payment adoption, and support for small businesses and local entrepreneurs should also be put in perspective. This is very necessary and important because an inclusive financial system strengthens families, communities, and national economies.
Likewise, every entrepreneur from the neighbourhood food vendor and market trader to grocery stores, cafés, restaurants, salons, artisans, and technology startups should embrace formal business registration where applicable. This is because strong institutions and authentic businesses create trust, attract investment, expand access to finance, and build resilient economies.
This call has become necessary because the future belongs to societies that replace gatekeeping with opportunity, dependency with empowerment, and exclusion with participation. And also because we want to to build a society where the children of ordinary families should be able to become extraordinary citizens through merit, character, innovation, and equal access to opportunity, not through privilege or personal connections alone.
Furthermore, we must understand that a better nation, and a better world will not emerge by chance, but will be built through visionary leadership, courageous policy, responsible institutions, empowered citizens, and a shared commitment to human dignity.
The time to build that future is now.
Now let's reflect and act: If you believe leadership should unlock opportunity, strengthen institutions, and empower people to create lasting prosperity, share this message and join the conversation on building societies where everyone has a fair chance to succeed.
Shalom!
